We had a very clean room and the service was quite nice. The hotel feels cosy, and breakfast had enough variety to cover what you might want. The Wi-Fi in the room was pretty slow, though.

I’ve stayed in hotels for years and haven’t had one this bad. The toilet is so wide that you have to turn sideways to sit down. Breakfast was a complete disgrace: I waited 20 minutes in line just to get one coffee, and people struggled to find seats. It wasn’t clear who the employees were because they wore their own clothes. The woman at reception had such a scowl that it looked like she wanted to tell us to get out.

During the Tall Ship Races 2025, I stayed at hotel Birgit. It’s about five minutes from the new shopping mall in the old docs and around ten minutes from the main train station. The renovated place looks very modern, with a rooftop bar and a restaurant. The rooms are clean, though some face the railroad. A good stay overall.

There’s a nearby shopping mall, and the location feels promising and charming. The hotel is well maintained, with a good ambience and healthy food available. The rooms were fine for a few days, and the rooftop bar is worth trying for the view, though it’s open only until 1800 hrs. The staff know their jobs, but communication can be a little difficult because of the language. Otherwise, things were well arranged and good for a nice stay.

The room windows are tiny, and the view of ventilation pipes or McDonalds isn’t inviting. The hotel is handy for the main train station, and the rooms are well insulated. Inside, the room was small but fine for a couple with little luggage; the bed was comfortable and there was a bathtub. We had no hooks for towels or place to store bags, so our things stayed on the floor. The hotel tries to be trendy and chic, but some details made me question its Clef Verte standards and sustainability. It provided disposable cups instead of glasses, the food had few regional choices and nothing sustainable, and there was no toilet brush, perhaps for environmental reasons? Breakfast was good, but they often cleared it away too early, especially on Saturday. I would have liked more variety and more seasonal, regional options. I was invited, so I can’t rate the price or value for money.
