The hotel is compact but well kept, centrally located, and the staff are friendly. Our room wasn’t convenient with a baby and pram, though. Cleaning wasn’t thorough, and after the first day nobody topped up the coffee, tea, or toiletries. Breakfast wasn’t good: some fresh food was stale, and the fruit wasn’t replaced after day one. On our last day there was practically nothing left, even though we’d confirmed the breakfast request the day before.

Hôtel Carmin is in a terrific spot, close to the best of what Le Havre has to offer. The rooms are clean and have everything you might need, and breakfast comes with plenty of choices. From the welcome at arrival to the time we left, everyone was helpful and happy to assist with any part of the stay. I’d definitely come back.

Everything else about the hotel was very good. The man handling check-in, who seems to oversee several jobs there, does his work properly but is deeply unpleasant to deal with. His assistant spends the day making up for his manner, apparently without him noticing.

The location is nice, the rooms are good, and the staff are friendly. Dinner was a disaster, though. For 15,50€ you get a small jar of chicken compot, lasange, tortellini, or something similar, ordered in advance at reception, with no option for extra courses. The daily manager saved my friends and me from going to bed hungry by serving bread and cheese. You also get a free can of water with those 15€. I like the hotel and its staff, but I’d never recommend it because this “restaurant” feels like a scam. Despite the fancy folder in the rooms, they don’t even have a kitchen. My three stars are only for the location, staff, and rooms. Dinner should have cost them a star, but the staff don’t deserve that.

Thierry at reception made a big difference and was fantastic. The room was spacious, breakfast was good, and the heating worked properly despite the cold. The cleaning was done well too. It’s a well located hotel that offers good value.
