Le Richelieu

The shower was quite small for me at 170cm, and I couldn't bend down to wash my legs. Tall people might have to get creative in there. Otherwise, it's an inexpensive, clean and cosy room, with nice staff. The room itself was good and clean, just don't expect top class. It's also not too far from the train and bus station.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good. We had a very pleasant stay.

I just checked out after three days and had a much better experience than you and your family. The hotel is basic, but very clean and safe, and the Wi-Fi is free. For the money, it's hard to do much better, though an elevator would help. One of the owners, who speaks fluent English, greeted me warmly when I arrived in the afternoon after travelling. I was first given a second floor room, but he saw I had too much luggage and moved me to a first floor room without charging extra. The room was a little cold because its heater didn't work, so he brought me a small portable heater. On Sunday, almost every store was closed and I had no food. He walked me to the only store that was open to make sure I found it, and helped translate the labels since I don't speak any French. I can't comment on the food, as I didn't eat there. I don't know if the owners were different when you stayed, or what happened during your visit. Sorry you had such a bad experience.

WARNING. We had been travelling around Europe for a couple of weeks and had been welcomed warmly everywhere, until this hotel. The owners were a cold, hostile couple, and the man told us at check-in that we couldn't have the room we'd booked because we had children. Our two children were 1 and 4 years old. They offered us a bigger room, but only for one night, even though we'd planned to stay two days. That was okay with us until they said they'd charge us for both the double room for two nights and the bigger room. We'd arrived at 6pm, tired after a full day driving with the children. The owners were unbelievably unprofessional and greedy. This was our sons' first experience of grown-ups cheating other people's money. Family from Sweden.
