I didn’t feel at ease in my room, though the hostess was friendly and attentive. The room was crowded with pillows, books, decorations, and other personal things, so on arrival I wasn’t sure where to put even my small bag. It felt more like I’d wandered into someone’s private space than a guest room, and there was a faint musty smell from the old belongings. I was relieved I’d booked just one night. I can see that plenty of people have left positive reviews, and I’m sure this sort of room suits some guests, but it wasn’t comfortable for me.

This place is as unusual as its owner. Elisabeth welcomed us warmly, made us feel at home, and shared a few stories with us. There were thoughtful touches everywhere, and the personal decor gives the place a timeless feel.

Le Hohwald is a peaceful village with several restaurants and a charming little Friday evening market. Tilly's B&B makes a handy base for exploring Alsace. The apartments are very clean and have everything you might need, with a lovingly put together, richly Alsatian style. Elisabeth runs the guesthouse in her own distinctive way and gave us a lovely welcome. If you’re after minimalist decor and luxury, this may not be your place, but we left with happy hearts after enjoying the warmth and coziness of Alsatian hospitality. Thank you, Elisabeth, for such a memorable stay.

The owner was so lovely and treated us wonderfully. Our rooms were well equipped, breakfast was very good, and she even gave us a gift!
