Villa Terra Mera

We were only there for one night, and I’m glad it wasn’t longer. The place is handy for the beach, just a two minute walk away, and outside noise didn’t come through. Inside, though, it was really noisy. You can hear people on the stairs and in the corridor when they come in at night, along with doors being locked, and we could hear the room next to ours too. Expect to be woken around 8am when people check out or head to breakfast. There’s little privacy or peace, and the curtains don’t block all the light, though noise may wake you before that matters. The room didn’t look like the pictures. There was badly painted wallpaper, visible plumbing and cables, cracked walls, and sockets under the bed that we had to move it to reach. It’s worn down, and the price doesn’t match the quality. I get that the location is valuable, but that doesn’t make up for such poor sound insulation and a bad night’s sleep.

Our reservation had apparently been canceled at the last minute, which we only saw when we checked Booking after arriving at midnight. The reception closes at 22 o'clock, and the guy was asleep and wouldn’t let us into our room. We’re traveling around France and Spain and have never had trouble getting into a room we’d already booked, whatever the hour. That night we couldn’t find anywhere in the village because the hotels were either full or closed. Now the guy is trying to charge us and refuses to refund our money. I can’t imagine a host treating guests with such insolence.

The staff were nice, and the place was clean and nicely decorated. Good value for money, although the sound insulation could be improved.

It’s fine if you’re on a tight budget, but the beds are really small. You can hear everything happening in the rooms next door.
