For what we paid, the room was extremely overpriced, especially with so little space and so many missing basics. We booked and prepaid for a one-night stay in a two-bed room. After a long day travelling, I just wanted the room we'd reserved. At first the clerk said there was nothing under my name, even after I spelled it out. Only when I showed the confirmation email on my phone did he find the booking. It was a very strange welcome. I'd have kept looking instead of announcing there was no reservation. The room was clean, but it didn't work for two people and felt designed for one. The two small beds were squeezed together, possibly to leave an adjoining door clear, though we hadn't asked for one. There was only about 15cm between one bed and the wall, and another 15cm between the beds, so there wasn't enough room to get in or out of that bed. A lot of things seemed intended for just one guest: a reading light, bedside table and USB chargers beside only one bed; thin pillows and just one spare; one chair at a tiny table; and no coffee maker, kettle, fridge or safe. With just one bedside table, one person had nowhere to put a drink or phone. Travellers need basics like a table on each side, room to reach both beds, a kettle and an iron. Even a three-star hotel should provide some of these. Almost every TV channel had no signal, including the ones that looked interesting. Breakfast was okay apart from the scrambled eggs, which were cold in the serving tray. It should be easy to keep a tray hot. There were no 'Do Not Disturb' signs on our door or, as far as we saw, on the other rooms. The hotel's responses to other reviews also seem defensive, with excuses instead of real apologies. One reviewer described a clerk flirting with her husband, and the response denied it and called her a liar. They should have said they'd look into a complaint that serious. When people raise missing amenities, the responses brush them aside. The attitude deserves zero stars.

As a Brit, I really value having a kettle in the room for a cup of tea. The fountain on the first floor and its tiny cup didn't meet my needs. I wasn't sure whether I could ask for a larger cup and a travel kettle so I could have tea even late at night.

The room was serviceable, but really only good for sleeping. The location is perfect for Le Mans train station, which is its saving grace. Breakfast was below standard in my opinion, and the place is very basic with no frills. For the price, I'd recommend a different hotel or an Airbnb. Maybe the ibis on the other side of the station is better.

I didn't have a booking and never stayed here, but the staff were the kindest I've met at any kind of hotel. If I come back to Le Mans, I'd book here next time.

I can't remember staying anywhere as neglected, run-down and sad as this Ibis Style, and I honestly wondered if it could be an Ibis at all. From the outside it looked awful, and inside things were worse. There were people begging for money outside, and the car park smelled strongly of urine. We'd prepaid and had no alternative, but the room we were given was an accessible room we hadn't booked. There was no kettle or fridge, and the large poster used as a headboard was hanging off the wall. When we complained, the receptionist said all the rooms were like that. This may have been the worst Ibis I've stayed in. Never again.
