Le Bailli de Montsaugeon

This was our second visit, and we’ll be back. The hosts were welcoming again, and we loved the building, its décor, and its history. This time we had the evening meal and wine, both of which I’d recommend. The food had fantastic flavours and was original, home cooked local cuisine. We used it as a stopover again for our Alps skiing trip. It’s equidistant from LeShuttle, and Dijon and Langres are also worth a visit if you have time. The period wooden panelled dining room with its roaring fire, plus a great dinner and breakfast, all add to the character of the rooms. A lovely place for mature couples who enjoy the finer side of life. 100% recommended. Thanks guys 👍

The room was spacious, comfortable, immaculately clean, and tastefully decorated. Arjan and Renee were exceptional hosts, and we really enjoyed the delicious home-cooked dinner and breakfast they provided. This is a unique chamber d’hotel, full of character and original décor. It worked perfectly as a stopover on our journey from the UK to the North of Italy, and would also suit a longer stay while exploring the Bourgogne region. We’d like to return and will certainly recommend it.

We were so glad to find this gem. The hosts are friendly and helpful, and dinner was delicious. Our room was perfect and the bathroom spotless. The house is full of character, with superb attention to detail in the décor. Looking forward to breakfast, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

For a stop on the way to the South of France or Spain, this is an excellent choice. You could also stay longer to explore Langres, Dijon, or the Bourgogne (Côte d’Or). Montsaugeon itself is tiny, but worth a visit. The welcome is hearty, the meal is great, and I can recommend the local wine from the small wine card. Don’t miss the excellent breakfast. It’s a quaint little chambre d’hôtes with 3 rooms, just north of Dijon, decorated in antique French style by very friendly Dutch owners. They once owned one of my favorite cafés in Amsterdam, Walem.
