Equi'val

We spotted the Equi'val sign while passing through and decided to stop. We found the owner and booked a ride for the following day, which turned out to be an amazing experience. The equestrian center is easy to get to, in a very quiet spot in the Vosges mountains with breathtaking views. Look for the sign pointing to a small entrance door. If it's shut, the owner and trainer are easy to find around the back of the building, where the horses are kept. Everyone was warm and friendly. The owner clearly explained what was offered and what to expect, and being able to pay by card was a big plus for us. Our horsekeeper and trainer was gentle with us and the horses, and spoke about them with such passion. You could feel her love and respect for the animals. The ride lasted an hour and a half. We went through forests, along paved roads, and into quiet places, with impressive views of the Vosges. I loved being out in nature on horseback. Before setting off, our guide showed us how to handle the horses and how to use our posture in valleys and on ramps. The commands were easy to learn and use. We got helmets and help mounting, too. We rode two gentle horses, Lolita and Caline. I was nervous at first, and my horse could sense my tension. Once I noticed the horses followed one another, I relaxed and started enjoying the ride. After that, the horse was calm and responsive. There's also a shop selling leather goods they make themselves. My husband bought a belt, and I got two small coin purses and 2 keyholders. The woman who makes them was very passionate as she explained the leatherworking process. She also runs workshops, and I'd really like to book one next time. I'm still impressed by the experience and would gladly do it again on another visit.
