ibis Le Touquet Thalassa

The view is stunning, and the location clearly carries a lot of weight here. But for the high price, the rooms felt surprisingly small and the service was inconsistent. The staff were kind and tried their best, though the place seemed short on energy and hospitality, as if it counted on the location to justify the rates. At check-in I waited 45 minutes past the official 16:00 time, after being told twice that my room would be ready in 20 minutes. I understand staffing can be difficult, but full rates are hard to accept when the service isn't fully there. Maison Mer was underwhelming. It would be better presented as family-friendly than as high-end or luxury, which it definitely isn't. A simpler, more accessible menu might fit its guests better. Le Potj', the main restaurant, was a little better. Ibis Le Touquet has potential, but this stay was disappointing for comfort and consistency.

The pool was the standout for me: clear, warm water and a breathtaking sea view. In the sunshine, the pool building felt like heaven, with the ocean atmosphere but no sand, bugs or wind. It's very well maintained, there's always a lifeguard, children are welcome and have useful equipment, and plenty of fresh, fluffy white towels are available. The air felt fresh, with none of that lingering pool smell. I'm fussy and spoiled, and still have nothing but praise for it. My son and I came for a long birthday weekend. We hadn't known much about Ibis Le Touquet Thalassa, and only wished we'd found this place sooner. It's right by the ocean and beach. The building feels cosy in cold weather and cool in hot weather. Everything was spotless, which matters a lot to me, so well done to the cleaning staff. The staff really felt like family. We asked them to keep our delicate French patisserie overnight, éclairs, tiramisu, petits fours and little cakes in boxes. They were eager to help, wrapped it all in stretch film without us asking, then put it in their coldest fridge. It wasn't a freezer, but the treats stayed perfectly fresh. Even after the long trip back to England, with a sunny ferry crossing and hours in the car, everything was still cool and delicious. Our family was overjoyed. Merci, and thank you! They also lend wheelchairs free to guests who need them, a thoughtful gesture for disabled or less mobile visitors. Everything ran smoothly and was well organised. The prices seemed very reasonable, and our room was a good size, with fresh sheets and towels every day. There was special water in the corridors, and I filled a few bottles to take home. I'm still enjoying a little each day and remembering that easy sense of luxury. They even gave us a bamboo water bottle on arrival. Thank you, Ibis Le Touquet Thalassa. The location was great, the room lovely, and the staff friendly. There’s a nice indoor pool and gym, too.

Even though the food disappointed us, we still love this place. This was our fifth visit, and it remains a little slice of heaven. The cocktail was excellent, but we wouldn't eat at the restaurant again. The scent of the hotel brings back so much feeling for us, and we've decided to return at least once a year. On this birthday visit there was no champagne in the room when we arrived, which was a letdown, but they put it right very quickly. The location feels unbeatable on any coastline in Europe. We love spending time by the pool, then having wine on the bedroom balcony while watching the sunset well past midnight. Everyone should stay here at least once in their life!
