I’m waiting for my money back, along with something for the stress, hassle and extra costs. I’ve also filed a formal complaint with the authorities. The next day, a woman with very bad manners gave me my backpack back but refused to take responsibility or return what I’d paid. She didn’t apologize at all. Last week I checked in at 20:00 for one night and paid as requested. I left my backpack in the room and went to dinner, with a main entrance code and room key. When I returned at 23:00, everything was shut, the lights were off and no one was around. The code didn’t work, so I couldn’t get in. I called the emergency numbers posted at the entrance, but the fire department dismissed my request for help. With none of my belongings, I had to go elsewhere and pay over €100 more.

This turned into one of my most memorable meals in France. We found the restaurant by chance while wandering around after a day at Mont St Michel and stopped for supper. We were the first ones there that evening. Our French was weak, but the hosts kindly spoke English with us. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the food and wine were excellent. We stayed until closing.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but the service was very poor. We’d booked a Wednesday evening meal after being told they were full until then. When we arrived, everything was closed. They’d taken our phone number but never called to let us know there was a problem. It was for a birthday, which made it especially disappointing.

My fiance and I loved the place and the service. We visited last October, and the welcome and service were wonderful from the start. The rooms were very clean, and both supper and breakfast were delicious. I highly recommend it.
