Les plages de Macabou

I had a wonderful week in Macabou, staying at Alex and Camille's place. It’s peaceful and well maintained, and Alex and Camille are welcoming. My work was too far away, so I had to find somewhere else, but I would have loved to stay longer. If you’re looking for somewhere quiet, I highly recommend it. Thank you!

The owners were welcoming and gave us good tips for finding special spots away from the crowds. The residence is charming and quiet, just steps from a dream beach that only locals seem to know. I had a fantastic week with my two boys and hope to return as soon as I can.

The access was awful: the road to the property was disastrous, and the track to the beach was muddy and very poorly maintained. Inside, the place was filthy, neglected, and dirty, and the photos were outdated. The woman, Camille, gave me a very poor welcome. I also found the man, Alexandre, her husband, very aggressive. I had specifically requested an arrival between 1 pm and 2 pm through Booking.com. When I pointed out that the agreed time wasn’t being respected, they kept pressing me, until Mr. Alexandre told me to leave. I asked him to notify Booking.com, since that’s where I’d booked, so I could get back the €900+ I’d paid. He said that if I didn’t leave, he wouldn’t be responsible for anything. I was outright assaulted by this man and subjected to racist remarks.

Stay away from this place. I spent 10 days there in December. The host threatened to kick us out while driving us from the airport to the apartment, saying, "I'll throw you out whenever I want." He was condescending, arrogant, threatening, intimidating, dishonest, cunning, and acted like a big shot. He seemed to think he could decide who lives and who dies among his tenants. He was deceitful, talked too much, and was disgusting, a sinister character. The residence was just as bad. The apartment was dirty, poorly maintained, and practically dilapidated. The bathroom was old and filthy, there were foul drain odors, rust everywhere that could give you tetanus, a cramped room, a fan caked in dust and grime, balcony doors that wouldn’t close, dirty kitchen utensils, and cockroaches. Be extremely wary of cars, keep a close eye on your wallets, and be suspicious of uninsured vehicles.
