After a long drive and a nightmare on the M25, we reached the hotel late. The owner gave us a fabulous welcome, and that soon made the journey fade from memory. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a really comfortable night before continuing through France toward Spain. Highly recommend it, and we'll definitely visit again.

Our holiday took a bad turn when our car broke down near Arras, but the people at this hotel completely turned things around and made it a pleasant stay. It's near the city centre, and the price for the quality is brilliant. Parking was mediocre, though it seemed likely to improve soon with a parking centre being added in front of the hotel. We had room number 4, with two separate beds. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The showerhead was a bit worn, but it worked properly. The hotel has a bar in the same building. It was meant to close around 10 p.m., but the staff member was happy to serve us beer until 11. We had planned to go to a pub in town, but the cosy hotel bar kept us there instead. The owner or staff member mostly speaks French, but understands some English, German and Arabic. She was keen to learn a few words in other languages when we chatted. Guests are expected to get up around 10 a.m. I got up at about 10:15 and was served one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had at the bar. If you're nice to them, they don't make much of a fuss if you bend the rules. We'd only expected a night's sleep after the car trouble, but the people here were exceptionally nice, which is why I'm writing my first review. I recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay near the centre of Lens. There's also a picture of the pub attached to my review.

€8 for a breakfast I didn't even eat? Seriously? The room was €50, just as the photos showed. Not again!
