This was my fifth time visiting ‘La Sentinelle. My first stays were for work, and later I came with my family. It feels like coming home. The atmosphere is homely, and the host is very friendly and knows how to make guests feel welcome. Rooms are spacious, the beds are good, the linen is clean, and the bathrooms are super clean. The breakfast is the cherry on top: no buffet, just a copious spread of homemade food. The house is in the médiéval part of Les Arcs, high on the hill with a beautiful view, and the charming garden feels as cozy as the inside. I love the place and will return with my friends next time. Thanks à lot Simon Thomsen.

I’ve travelled to over 48 countries, and this was the most disappointing stay and worst treatment I’ve experienced. My family and I spent one night in the top floor while driving from Italy to Spain. There were no sheets on the beds, only edredom, and an old heater made the room noisy. The towels were hard, old, and smelled bad, and there wasn’t one for the children. We had no parking place and no clear directions about where to leave the car. The service felt very unprofessional. Simon, the hoster, was rude and unfriendly, complaining that breakfast took us over an hour and that we were 45min late for checkout. We had checked in at 1am, and with a 3 years old child I expected more flexibility and tolerance. We weren’t right, but his overreaction was scary. He eventually asked us to leave his house because he had a lot of work to clean the rooms before the next guests, when he had other plans.

There were no bed sheets on any of the beds, so guests are expected to sleep straight on the duvet. I find that unhygienic and unacceptable for any accommodation. The towels were extremely hard, almost like stone, and practically unusable, not even good as cleaning cloths. There wasn’t a towel for our child either. The old heating system was very loud, and the room noise made it difficult to sleep. Parking was another issue: there was no proper spot, and this wasn’t clearly disclosed beforehand, which caused needless stress when we arrived. The rooms aren’t suitable for tall guests either. If you’re over 1.80 m (5’11”), the door frames are very low, so you’ll keep hitting your head, making it uncomfortable and unsafe. Travelling with small children? This really isn’t the right place. The owner showed no flexibility, and his rude, disrespectful behavior toward my wife left her in tears. That’s unacceptable in a hospitality setting. The lack of basic hygiene, comfort, transparency, and respect makes it impossible to recommend. I strongly suggest considering other options before booking. Update: This reflects my personal experience during the stay, and the points above are factual. I won’t engage in personal attacks. Readers can draw their own conclusions from the owner’s public response.

The village is exceptionally beautiful, and the property felt like a fairytale. Simon was an amazing host, incredibly kind and friendly. Breakfast on the terrace was superb, with freshly baked croissants, delicious yogurt with fresh fruit, and very good coffee. I was surprised by that, since I’ve found it pretty difficult to get a decent coffee in France. It’s dog-friendly for 10 euros. Street parking was challenging, and it took us 15 minutes of circling before we found a spot really close to the property. We enjoyed our stay very much!!

A lovely peaceful place in a beautiful medieval setting. Simon was an excellent host, and we really enjoyed the wonderful breakfast he served on the terrace.
