Le Coeur des Loges (MEN652)

The flat was clean and the heating was just right. Some people in our group complained about their rooms, though. In our place, you could hear gossip clearly between rooms with all the doors shut, and from the flats above and below. The twin beds were so narrow they felt like kids’ beds. I’m fit to skinny, but often hit the wall with an elbow or foot when turning in my sleep. The spa was separate from the pool. The pool was disappointing, with shallow water that seemed made for kids, and the jacuzzi wasn’t always working. I never got to have a warm jacuzzi bath after skiing. Of course, each flat has a bathtub, and the jacuzzi clearly wouldn’t fit everyone in the hotel anyway. There’s a nice spa and fitness center further down the road. Even with those problems, the stay was pleasant. Ski-in and ski-out access takes the commute off your hands, and once you reach a lift, you can get anywhere. I’d visit again.

The room was filthy. The toilet seat had stains from previous guests, the shower cabin was disgusting, and I didn’t feel comfortable stepping into it barefoot. Even the kitchen table hadn’t been cleaned. We checked in at 3 AM with nobody at reception, so we couldn’t report it then. By the next day everything was fully booked, and it felt like they didn’t care once they had our money. For three nights in a row, there was no heating after 10 PM. In January in the French Alps, with nights around -5°C and poorly insulated windows, the room got freezing. We complained, but it took a full day for someone to come. The staff member said the system is sensor-activated and stuck at a maximum of 21°C at night, so it only heats when it decides it’s needed. Reception also said around seven other apartments had the same issue, so this was a known problem. I took photos to show reception. Basic comfort and hygiene were both missing. One of the worst stays I’ve had in years. Avoid it.

We booked in May, six weeks before arriving, and were genuinely looking forward to the trip. Then the booking was abruptly cancelled, supposedly because the hotel was being privatized. They offered no proper alternative or help and showed no sense of responsibility or empathy, leaving us to deal with it ourselves. It felt like our reservation stopped mattering as soon as a higher-paying opportunity came along. We felt dismissed and not taken seriously. The way this was handled left a bitter impression. We’ll never return and can’t recommend the hotel.

We’d stayed here several times before and always enjoyed it, which made this especially disappointing. We had a confirmed high-season booking for 10-17 January, made eight months in advance. Six weeks before the trip, the residence said it couldn’t honor our stay because the whole building would be privatized for a group. The pool, spa, restaurant, and other services advertised when we booked would all be unavailable. They suggested somewhere in a completely different region, which wasn’t comparable to what we’d reserved in the same ski area. Cancelling a high-season stay so late is extremely unprofessional, especially with returning guests. We relied on the booking for our holiday, and this lack of reliability is unacceptable. We can’t recommend the residence now.
