Residence Le Machu Pichu

The radiators worked really well, and the location was great. That was about it. We waited four hours for our room keys on the first day and even offered to clean the rooms ourselves in case that was the holdup. Our four-person room felt like it should only sleep two. It was cramped and worn, with barely any storage and a tiny kitchen full of a random mix of tired utensils and cutlery. The walls were so thin that loud drunk guests kept us awake every night. The toilet and bathroom were both very small, and neither had an extractor fan. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.

You can ski out onto the main slope, and the location is great. The building and apartment are run down, though. The sofa bed was uncomfortable, made up of two separate parts with single mattresses of different thicknesses. It was also very loud at night.

WARNING: I still have an unresolved refund issue with this property. On booking.com, it is listed as "Studios & Appartements Ski aux Pieds - Val Thorens", at the same address and phone number. I cancelled my reservation on November 23, 2025, while it was still within the free cancellation period. As of January 7, 2026, I haven't received the refund, despite following up several times. The property kept saying it was "being processed." After I opened a formal dispute through Booking.com, they said a "technical issue with their banking system" was stopping transactions. I can't say whether that's a genuine long-term technical failure or an excuse to hold onto guest funds, but it's unacceptable. Be aware of these payment risks before booking.

The ski in, ski out location is good, and having a mini mart in the building was convenient. The beds were squeezed into a small room, though that was what I expected for the price. The staff were rude.
