We've brought field trip groups here eight times now and hope to return next year. The chalets have everything we need for cooking, and the price is reasonable. The setting is green, peaceful and spacious, with mountains all around. There's room for children of any age to play, plus plenty of picnic tables. This year the new bar was a welcome addition, with cold drinks and ice cream to enjoy indoors or outside. The site used to be part of the VVF chain and has been independently run since this year. The couple in charge gave us a warm welcome and are making good improvements, including modernising the chalets and planting flower beds and wildflower meadows. Les Cabannes village is only a 5-minute walk away. It has an excellent restaurant with a farm shop, a cafe-bar, two pizzerias, two small but well-stocked shops with a great range of local cheeses and other products, a bakery with delicious bread and pastries, a pharmacy, and a post office with a cash machine. It's a great base for a short break, a family holiday or winter skiing. There's lots nearby to explore, from mountains, lakes and caves to museums, medieval towns and villages, castles and rivers.

(update at bottom) Be wary about staying here. The owners overcharged me after we had a problem on our first night and checked out first thing the next morning. They said they'd correct the charge. Booking confirmed the hotel had agreed to adjust it, but weeks later the charge still hadn't been fixed, and the owners had stopped replying to Booking customer service too. It's especially disappointing because earlier reviews had already made me hesitate. I chose to book anyway, hoping to support a small business. The amount charged is my main complaint, along with the lack of any response from customer service. But the accommodation also didn't match how its amenities and comfort were presented online. When we arrived, the conditions were disappointing and the property's upkeep seemed beyond what the owners could manage, to the point that we felt safety was a concern. That's why we checked out immediately. There were no linens, which apparently cost extra, though that wasn't adequately explained during booking or check-in. After a long drive, we arrived late in the evening at this fairly remote mountain location and found no towels, pillowcases or sheets in the cabin. Spiders kept getting into the cabin, too many to count, despite us trying to clear them out and shut every door and window. Two fell from the ceiling onto the children's bunk beds. Outside, several hornet nests and large, thick cobwebs covered the playground and other outdoor amenities, as well as the patio furniture, making those areas unusable. The grass and weeds had only been cut around the front cabins shown in the photos. The other cabins were surrounded by overgrowth, which surely provides a home for bugs and spiders. Trimming around cabins and paths every few weeks could easily address that, but it wasn't being done. I have more details I could share, but my main point is how disappointed I am about the charge and the complete lack of a customer service response. I'll gladly update this once the owners reply to Booking's representatives and immediately refund the overcharge. My next step is to file a claim with my credit card for the full transaction, though I'd prefer to give the owners a chance to put things right by processing the refund they originally agreed to. EDITED TO RESPOND TO OWNERS REPLY: - Booking can't change the charge because you charged my card at your location. You need to adjust it manually. That was already made clear. - I fully support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems. That doesn't excuse hornet nests or spiderwebs and overgrowth in shared play and sleeping areas. I can add photos to this review if needed to support my point. - It's interesting that you replied so quickly here, but still haven't answered my direct messages or Booking's follow-up messages, or actually issued the refund you promised weeks ago. 🤷 Again, I'm giving you the chance to make this right, and I'll remove the review once you do. I do appreciate small businesses and try to handle problems respectfully. I've never had to leave a public review to get a response before, and wish this had been resolved more appropriately.

The location is beautiful and the staff are friendly. The apartments are clean and tidy, with good facilities. An oven would be a nice addition :)

I spent two nights at this guesthouse with my motorcycle club and had a really relaxing time. The village is peaceful, the setting is superb, and there's a great inn and shops. We got a warm welcome at the guesthouse. Even with the heatwave outside, the bungalows stayed cool and had what we needed for everyday life. Each has a little terrace out back, and the green spaces are well kept. There are several bungalows, but they're laid out so the place doesn't feel crowded. A very positive stay, with no drawbacks that I could find.
