Au Bon Accueil

After 11 days on the GR 54, we spent our final night here and had a lovely, relaxed time. We enjoyed supper on the terrace and unwinding in the bar. The manager and staff gave us a warm welcome and were charming and funny. They’ve only recently taken over a hotel that seems to have been neglected for years, so they’ve got quite a project ahead of them.

We only stayed a couple of nights, but were very happy with the experience. The new manager was so friendly, the food was very good, and the bar has a lovely charm. We’d definitely come back to Hotel Au Bon Accueil.

Everything was clean and simple, just what we wanted, and the staff were really helpful and friendly. The €75 we paid for two people, including a great breakfast, was a bargain. You can ask to eat on the terrace, which has amazing mountain views. It’s a traditional, affordable mountain hotel that seems popular with cyclists and hikers in the Rhone Alps. We missed the Marmotte bike race, but took walks to Les Deux Alpes and Alpe d^huez, with the start a short distance from the hotel. Lac Buclet and Lac Lauvitel are beautiful lakes nearby too. I’d love to come back with my family.

The host is wonderful and makes the hotel feel like home. Breakfast was more than adequate, and the dinners were delicious. Prices are the most competitive I found in the Bourg-d'Oisans region. I first came in 2019 under the previous management, and was glad to see the hotel has improved since then. It’s a good starting point for cycling and hiking tours, in a lovely-looking building with a nice tour de france museum. The rooms were comfortable enough for me, and the mountain view is precious.
