PUY DU FOU - Le Camp du Drap d’Or + Tickets

The visit itself was excellent, but the accommodation spoiled it. Front desk staff assured us the “state of the art insulation” would keep rooms “really cool” without air conditioning. That simply wasn't true: it was hotter than hell, and there weren't even fans, fridges, or chilled water bottles. Maybe the tents are quaint in May, but avoid them in July or August. Utterly unbearable.

We had such a terrible night in the heat that I can't recommend a summer stay at Puy du Foy. The room felt so oppressive I could barely breathe, let alone sleep, and we had another busy park day ahead. Opening the door and window helped a little, but not enough, and it didn't feel safe at night. There's an air conditioning control on the wall, but after struggling with it I called reception and learned it doesn't work. I understand from the Puy Du Fou response to other reviews that avoiding air conditioning is meant to meet environmental standards, but asking paying guests to put up with those conditions is unacceptable. The Camp Drap D'or theming was quirky and fun, and the room was very clean. Beds and shower were good, reception and dining staff were friendly, and the food was lovely. In cooler weather, I think you'd have a great time. If the room had been cooler, my review would have been much more favorable, but the heat had a huge negative impact on our stay.

I passed through during a scavenger hunt and was quite impressed. This seems like a really cool place!

The beds were good, and everything was clean and good quality. Breakfast was chaotic, unfortunately, but the stay was really worthwhile.
