The toilet was my biggest issue. We cleaned it three times and the smell barely improved, and our neighbours' apartment smelled too, from their toilet and the mop in the cleaning cupboard. There was also dirt built up along the skirting boards. The setting itself is quiet, near the river and woods, with good access to the pistes, though if there's no snow down at resort level you'll need to take the chairlift down. Ski lockers on the ground floor are big, reception staff are welcoming, and you can ask for a hairdryer. Towels cost extra. The rooms were small but adequate, with dated furniture you'd expect in budget accommodation. There wasn't much clothing storage, and the bed was very uncomfortable.

The location is the big plus: from the lockers it's only a 10 m walk to the piste, close enough to feel ski in/ski out. The lockers are roomy but unheated, and the narrow corridors make getting to them awkward when it's busy. Staff are helpful and speak several languages. There's very little parking nearby, so if you're driving, get there early and hope for a space. TV and Wi-Fi cost extra, which doesn't matter if you don't need them. These apartments suit smaller families, though some need maintenance. It gets cramped with more than four people. Since it's at the top end of Les Esserts, bring snow boots to cross the piste to the shops and restaurants.

In March 2016, we booked a two-room apartment but were given a terrible one-room hole instead. It was filthy, the curtains, kettle, and coffee machine were missing, nothing worked, and we had no hot water for 24 hours. A complete waste of money.

The location was perfect, right next to the piste, but the place was too small for our group of six. There was just one sofa with room for about two and a half people, and having no free internet was really annoying.

Pretty good value, and right by the piste. Be careful where you leave your car, even just while unloading. Park somewhere you're not allowed to, especially in a disabled space, and you can get a ticket pretty quickly.
