Moontain Hostel

We love the laid-back feel at Moontain Hostel, whether in summer or winter. This was our second stay, and the location is great. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were clean, comfortable and well designed. Thanks for another lovely visit. We’ll definitely be back 🙂.

The mountain feel of the place and the thoughtful setup for bikes really suited us, especially the curtains on every bunk. We stayed for the 2025 Megavalanche MTB race, and it was one of the best hostels we've tried, with lots of lovely people and staff who were fantastic. Adeline and Thibault were warm, friendly, and always happy to chat. Adeline cooked brilliantly, and Thibault made drinks at the hostel bar part of the fun. The main lift to Alpe d’Huez was closed for maintenance while we were there, but we managed to get around. Check which lifts are running before you book.

The only thing I'd change is the limited room for drying clothes. Otherwise, it's a lovely, affordable place, very convenient for ski-in and ski-out, and the dorm beds have curtains you can close. I had a great stay, and the payment problem was sorted quickly. A good choice for solo travel. I'll probably be back next year.

The staff put in a lot of effort to make sure everyone is happy, and they were friendly and welcoming throughout our week with family and friends. We booked half board in a no-frills hostel. The continental breakfast worked well for everyone, and the three-course dinner was enough for hungry skiers. Our 10-person room suited two families perfectly. I'd happily return and recommend it to friends.
