The setting is wonderfully quiet, so it’s a good fit if that’s what you’re after. We had a great week and would recommend it. There’s plenty to do nearby, from hiking, biking and canoeing to visiting towns, markets and wineries, and we usually spent our days away from the campground. Our family of five stayed in a luxury cabin from July 21st - July 28th 2018: two parents, daughters aged 18 and 19, and a 14-year-old son. Even with kids older than most of the other children there, we enjoyed ourselves. The pool was fine for cooling off and younger kids would enjoy playing in it. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast service was great. If you forget to order bread, they’ll come down to your cabin to take the order if needed. The “luxury” cabin’s kitchen gear could be better for a place meant for five or six: there were only two cooking units, not many different pans, and no teapot. WiFi only worked in the main building and was pretty unstable, so that really needs improvement.

The owners are lovely and work hard, and there’s freshly baked bread every morning, including tasty nut bread made with nuts from the campsite’s trees. Later on, you can get drinks and food at the restaurant beside the pool and play area. We turned up without a plan, with our tent and three kids, expecting to stay a few days, but ended up spending more than a week at Moulin des Sandaux. It’s such a nice place for families: there’s a pool, football table and ping pong, and the children all play together. Most of the kids are French and Dutch. There’s a stream, a fish-filled pond with a few beavers, and lots of nut trees. It’s calm and quiet, and we absolutely loved our stay. We’ll definitely come back.

The people there are so lovely and really committed to looking after visitors. The food was delicious, and it’s a beautiful place with all kinds of activities to enjoy. Just be aware you probably won’t get mobile phone service on site.

With the trees all around, there’s plenty of shade to keep cool in summer. It’s a pleasant, quiet, well-organized place, and the team are friendly. The pond is small, but you can fish there and take a stroll around it. The pool and waterslide are great, and there’s a little playground for younger visitors. The food is good, and you can order bread and pastries for breakfast if you need them. Cars are only allowed in for arrival and departure, so traffic doesn’t disturb you and the children aren’t at risk from vehicles.

We were there for four days on a standard pitch with a folding caravan, while visiting friends who had a cottage. It cost 90 euros per night, which felt extremely expensive, and there was also a mandatory 250 euros cash deposit when we arrived. We couldn’t park the car next to the caravan, which was difficult with four small children. The sanitary facilities had no lights, so shaving and showering in the dark was hard. The water wasn’t always hot and needed manual adjustment. There was no tap near the pitch, so we had to walk all the way to the toilet block each time. There was no phone coverage at the campsite, and WiFi was only available at reception, not on the pitches. The pond wasn’t fenced all the way around, which felt very dangerous. The waterslide only ran for a few half-hour periods each day, so the children kept being disappointed when it switched off, and it wasn’t just ours. The owners do their very best, I’ll give them that, but I’m not coming back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone planning to stay in their own tent or similar.
