Hôtel d'Angleterre

The town is charming, with good shops and food, plus little alleys decorated with playful seashell murals. The hotel is right by the beach, restaurants, shops, and race course, so the location is hard to beat, though the Fête de la Musique and Ironman brought quite a bit of nighttime noise. We stayed one night. Our room was small but comfortable, as expected for a European two-star hotel. There was no air conditioning or fridge, but the fan was enough for a short visit. The bathroom was dated, with cracks in the tub and some mold, though everything worked. There’s an elevator, but you still have a few stairs to deal with. Parking is nearby rather than on the property. A few things to plan for: reception closes at 8:30 PM, cold breakfast needs to be booked ahead and wasn’t available early on race day. During big events like Ironman, roads close, so parking outside the closure area is a good idea if you’ll need your car. It’s a simple place with no extra frills, best if you care most about walking everywhere and enjoying the local feel.
