We booked a premium room overlooking the marina while waiting for the factory to finish with our vessel. The place has a nautical feel and attracts world class sailors. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and our room was clean and tidy. Breakfast had a full spread, with good coffee and hot chocolate. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
The bed was comfortable, and the AC worked really well, which mattered a lot since I was so cold. I also appreciated having a bathtub instead of a shower, perfect for a hot bath. I was in Les Sables to deliver a boat to a customer and stayed at the hotel for two nights. The boat-themed decor is really nice, and the staff were lovely, always smiling. Thanks for everything!
The staff were really nice, bilingual, fun, and attentive. The location by the marina is great for visiting yachties and race fans. I agree with Rick Pittman's review about the beds, and for once the A/C wasn't a battle of wills. It actually did what you told it to.
The hotel makes a restful base for seeing the town. We could reach the busy areas in a few minutes, then come back somewhere quiet in a small courtyard of apartments. The harbour is about 50yds away on foot, and there's a main route out of town nearby. A water taxi from the harbour into town costs €1,10 each way and runs until 19:45. Another one further south seems to run until 2am, seasonally, I think. Nearby, a little promenade has good restaurants and had an evening market while we were there. Reception can be reached from both the Port and Car Park sides, and we were welcomed promptly and warmly. We were surprised to hear a Scottish voice behind the desk, Fiona! The staff know the area well, are helpful and welcoming, and gave us great recommendations. There are locally made goods in reception, too. Our room was a little dated, I believe it was built in the early 2000s, but it was very clean and well looked after. It had a shower/bath, a separate toilet, and a balcony overlooking the courtyard, with a view of the harbour. Across the water, the commercial port is a central part of Port Olonne's geography. It's quiet and unobtrusive, and doesn't particularly detract from the harbour. Breakfast was a well-stocked continental spread, served over a long window from 0730-1130. As a Brit, at first the area felt quite alienating. It seemed like we were the only ones here, but as the day went on we heard more familiar voices and felt at ease. Actually, we felt very welcome, and the locals were happy to put up with our embarrassing attempts at French. We enjoyed our stay and will keep coming back to this lovely little locale.
Everything was perfect, the room, the breakfast, and especially the hospitality. The owner helped us a lot, taking us places and speaking for us because we don't know French. He stood up for us as if he already knew us. A small thank you is this comment!
