Villa de la Meilleraie

We had an unforgettable, heavenly stay with our large family. There was room for everyone, whatever their age, to spend good time together, both indoors and outside. The villa is thoughtfully laid out for this, and the grounds are pleasant. The welcome was very friendly, and the concierge was available 24/7. It was easy to communicate with the owners, who were pleasant and efficient. Being close to shops was a real advantage. The price and quality felt well matched. I highly recommend it.

We booked a week last summer and were very disappointed. We couldn't get into the accommodation at the scheduled time, and the pool liner was damaged with the main drain missing, which seemed dangerous for children. The sheets and towels smelled musty, and the bicycles were in terrible shape. The service didn't match the price or the website photos.

We had no hot water for two full days, and nobody offered compensation. The owner was completely dishonest and responded sarcastically when we raised problems. The concierge was thankfully very responsive, though he couldn't fix everything the owner should have been handling. There are issues all over the house: the new stilt terrace is badly built, with shifting slabs and stilts balanced precariously right on the ground, which is very dangerous. The bicycles are numerous and rusty, and you have to wonder where the maintenance budget goes. The Jacuzzi water hadn't been changed after use as it was supposed to be. A dehumidifier fell on a family member's head while they were showering, and a pool light came loose. The children's play equipment is extremely outdated and needs replacing. There were holes in the walls, and the bedroom closets need replacing. On top of that, the neighbors made noise until 3 a.m. every night, even though we made sure to be respectful. The house is far from the beach and almost all amenities, except the bakery, so you need the car for everything.

We rented the place for a business seminar, with a group of about twelve. It was well equipped with dishes, cutlery, pots, and pans. Having a towel on each bed was appreciated, and the bathrooms and accommodation in general were clean. The grounds were pleasant, with greenery and a swimming pool, and the concierge was very friendly.
