Mas De Sylvereal Camargue

A really authentic stay in a beautiful building, with lovely owners and a great breakfast. Myriam, our guide for the horse riding tour, knew her stuff, and the horses were treated with so much respect. That's sadly not always the case with tourism in Camargue. I can only recommend it.

The owner was chatty and helpful, and although the amenities and service were basic, that was fine with us. The hotel is charming and very accessible, an old mas with lots of character and a nice garden where you can have breakfast or relax. We stayed for a couple of days during the heat wave in a spacious, clean superior room on the ground floor, in the courtyard. It had stone walls, a fireplace, a large bathroom and, thank goodness, A/C. The nearest village, Aigues-Mortes or Saintes-Maries, is 15 kms away. There's no ice machine, fridge or room service, especially after 8pm, so after a long hot day there aren't many ways to have a cold beer or glass of rose in your room unless you drive 2 x 15kms and bring a cooler. There's a restaurant attached to the hotel, but it has a different owner and atmosphere. If you don't mind that, it's a great place to stay for a very reasonable price.

The whole building is beautiful, and the people are kind. Our medium-category room was clean and quiet, even though it was near a road, but it was very small. For one night, the value for money was fine.

The owners were so nice, and the place felt super cozy. Breakfast was lovely, especially the homemade cakes.
