The place had apparently been sold and no longer existed, according to a local we spoke with. We only learned that after arriving at the gîte, where the walls had all been demolished and a hotel was under construction. Finding it in the village was already difficult, and the phone number was listed as “not in service.” The online booking had charged us for the stay, so I don’t understand why it was still offered as an accommodation option.

We got to explore the lovely region with Elisabeth as our guide, which was a real bonus. The site was peaceful and made it easy to switch off. Our studio was spacious, with a well-equipped kitchenette, and breakfast was tempting, with jams, honey, organic apple juice, and more. The welcome was very warm. There was no Wi-Fi or TV, but at least we could clear our heads.

It was absolutely quiet at night, and we slept well. The room was spacious and had everything we needed, and there was a swimming pool available. The welcome was excellent, and the food was very good.
