The kitchenette was well stocked, and I found the room comfortable. There’s a bit of a walk to the station and main square. In the bathroom they had soap and shampoo/body wash, but I disliked the shampoo’s smell enough to buy my own. Bedside tables would’ve been handy too.

We had a double room for two adults, one child and a baby, with a baby bed and kitchen. It did what we needed, and the location beside the big park was great. The staff were nice, though not always around. For the basic standard, it was very expensive: over 400 for two nights. The sheets also get terribly hot in summer.

The best part was the value. I’d stay here again and recommend it. The refurbished room and bathroom were clean and warm, with good heaters, a cold fridge, a new microwave, stovetop, cookware and dishes. There’s a Match supermarket about five minutes away with a deli and bakery, open late and for half a day on Sunday. A couple of small grocery shops nearby are open all day Sunday too, and cafes, restaurants, bars and shops are in the same area. It’s about a 15-minute walk to Lille’s main train station and Lille Europe for the Eurostar, or just a short walk to the Solferino bus stop, with frequent buses to both. I stayed three nights. The aparthotel seems to share a complex with a university hostel where students live during term time, but it was quiet. The halls were clean, and the lifts, common areas and bins all seemed well looked after. Reception is open during the day. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially Mohammed, who told me there was free coffee and tea in the breakfast room while it was open. That was welcome when the weather turned cold, and we used our room mugs. A couple of small things could be better: the corner shower is quite cramped, and the curtain on two sides sticks to you and lets water splash onto the floor. The kitchen was missing a sink plug and some cutlery.

There’s plenty of room, and the whole hotel feels almost like a village. The kitchenette has a stove, coffee maker, sink, plates, glasses and cutlery, so it’s easy to cook and save a bit of money. My only real complaint was how small the shower was.
