Grand Hotel Bellevue

The rooftop bar was a lovely place to have a drink and look out over the city after a day exploring. We stayed at the Grand Hotel Bellevue for a mother-daughter trip and absolutely loved it. The staff were warm and friendly, always smiling or offering a useful suggestion, and everything felt easy and thoughtfully done. It’s right in the heart of Lille, with shops, cafés, and the beautiful architecture of the Grand Place just outside. Even so, the hotel was impressively quiet and peaceful. Elegant and luxurious, but also wonderfully comfortable, it made for a special getaway. We’d highly recommend the Grand Hotel Bellevue to anyone visiting Lille.

The rooftop bar is fabulous, and the hotel is in a lovely spot just off grand place. Our fourth-floor bedroom was quiet, with no street noise. But the toilet in our room wouldn’t flush. We told reception twice, and it still wasn’t fixed during our two-night stay. Having to use the public toilet on the fifth floor was really inconvenient. It spoiled what could have been a memorable visit to an otherwise lovely hotel.

The night staff were much better, but my experience with the daytime service was horrendous. The concierge on duty the morning of 31st Aug was extremely unwelcoming and unhelpful when I asked about the sockets not working with my travel adapter. He said there was nothing he could do. Room 312 had an odd yellow stain by the bathroom, and the rooms are extremely dated. I also waited ages for the single elevator while staff moved inventory around, since there doesn’t seem to be a service elevator. This doesn’t feel like a 4 star hotel at all.

Right by Grand Palace, with shops, food, the metro, Lille Europe and Flanders station all nearby. I loved the decor, so chic, and it’s a lovely little boutique hotel in the heart of it all.
