Lille City Hotel

The location is the one good thing about this hotel. It's very close to a dump, and the entrance smells of urine. The rooms are battered, dirty, moldy, and very dark, with towels that are almost grey. The photos are completely misleading. Avoid!

The noisy air ventilators added to an already awful stay. People were smoking inside the hotel, sometimes at strange hours like 02.00, and the smoke smell filled my room. It's not really the hotel's fault, but I have trouble breathing around smoke, so I had to open the window, then close it again when mosquitoes got in. Smoke, mosquitoes, and loud ventilation made for a really bad experience.

The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was centrally located beside an underground car park. But the room was extremely bad and nothing like the pictures. The window wouldn't open and the privacy glass meant I couldn't see outside. The bathroom was very poor, and when I complained, the staff didn't help.

I was stuck in Lille for the night and had to book at the last minute. The man at reception was helpful and showed me how the lights worked, with the keycard slot, and lent me a phone charger. My single bed was very comfortable, and the room had a little desk, a TV, and a reading light above the bed. The bathroom was spotless, honestly nicer than the one at home. A very pleasant stay, thank you. I paid €85,50 on booking.com plus €1,76 local tax on arrival.
