The People Hostel - Lille

Good value for the price overall. The rooms were clean, while the toilets and shower were just okay. Staff were okay too.

They moved me to a much nicer room after I asked, since the first one was dark, small, and dirty. It’s a nice place in general, though, as with any big hostel, it needs repairs. The main issue was a couple of guests: one smelly homeless guy, and another who seemed to be on drugs and smoked cigarettes inside the building at night.

The stay and location were good, but their platform and logistics problems kept waking me up. The first night, someone removed all my belongings from the bed, passport included, and one item of clothing went missing. On night two, a staff member woke me and asked who had assigned me the bed because it was apparently the wrong one. They didn’t speak English well. I understand the mix-up, but it wasn’t my mistake. Then on the third night another guest woke me because my bed had been assigned to her. Not the worst stay, but there’s a lot they need to improve.

Really impressed by how quiet it was and how comfortable the rooms felt. The washrooms were cleaned regularly too. Definitely worth staying!
