Novotel Limoges Le Lac

The pool area had a pleasant lake view, and having towels provided was much appreciated for our quick stop before setting off the next morning. Staff were friendly, especially at the bar. The hotel was generally clean, though leftover food and drinks drew wasps near the pool. Our room wasn't quite prepared for four, but reception sorted it quickly. The gym was run down, with three rather icky machines, and one wasn't connected.

The hotel itself is okay and deserves its reputation, and the location is beautiful. But the way management treated customers felt vile and ugly. I want people to know about that approach. I booked 10 rooms for my team for four nights and three days, choosing this hotel specifically because its restaurant served dinner. Our company covers each team member's dinner up to a set amount, so I was glad we could use that benefit together. On the first evening, we chose meals from a reasonably priced menu and stayed within the allowance. The food was good, but service was extremely slow and orders got badly mixed up. The following evening, the whole team returned for dinner and found a different menu with roughly the same dishes, now priced 15-20% higher. At the same time, the option to order two menus at a fixed price, cheaper than ordering separately, had disappeared. In my view, changing only the menu prices like this was unjustified and seemed based on the larger dinner orders during our three days there. I call it theft from the guests staying at the hotel. It was very disappointing to feel cheated, even though my team and I had our costs covered by the company. I also thought of the other tourists staying there. I come from an Eastern European country and have never encountered this kind of situation in a hotel back home.

The pool is a nice extra for children and will keep them occupied. It's an excellent hotel, with great staff and a perfect spot for a good night's sleep before getting back on the road. Highly recommend.

The buffet breakfast was great, and the staff were very friendly. There's a walking trail around the lake that worked well for our small dog. Dinner salads were horrible because the lettuce was bad.
