The kids had plenty to do, from visiting the rabbits, goats and tortoise to joining the daily club. We also booked swimming lessons during club time, which our son loved. A massage was part of our package, and we all enjoyed it. My wife later booked a full body ‘gommage’ and called it the best treatment she’d ever had. Our gîte had an enclosed terrace with wide views over the valley, a lovely place to cool off between pool dips. One evening, a huge lightning storm rolled in and made the view feel especially atmospheric. Even though the gîte was above the crèche rooms, it still felt private enough. La Ferme Du Cayla has been modernised and restored, but still feels like the little hamlet of five or six houses it once was. Its enclosed layout also gave us peace of mind, with the children never far away. We loved having fresh local meals brought to our door or served on the terrace with other families, and being able to take a break from cooking. We’ve just come back from a wonderfully relaxing week here with our son and his grandparents. James and Olivia have added catered childcare to the traditional gîte holiday we’re used to, which made it easy to switch off. I’d happily recommend it to young families looking for a proper break. We only wish we’d stayed longer.

Parents could properly relax while the kids had plenty of freedom, which made for a lovely family holiday. We’d love to come back soon with the little cousins and give the pizza oven a try 😉

Figeac, the nearby town, is a lovely medieval place with good shops and restaurants. We could have stayed longer, there was so much to do, and we’re already looking forward to returning next year. By the end of the week, Christophe and Genevieve felt more like friends than resort staff. The children’s crèche was a real highlight. We were nervous about leaving them with someone new, but Genevieve put us at ease right away. She took time to understand each child’s personality and planned daily activities to suit their ages and abilities. On our last day, she arranged a family treasure hunt through the gardens and a picnic by the lake. It was a lovely balance of time together and time to relax on our own. The kids also loved feeding the animals each morning with Christophe and Genevieve, and the tractor rides were a special treat. Christophe talked us through the many activities at the start of the week, all at reasonable prices. We booked horse riding, spa treatments, swimming lessons for our son and a trip to the monkey park. He was always nearby to help or offer local advice, and went out of his way to make sure we were having a good, relaxing stay. We spent the first week of October at La Ferme du Cayla on a self catering basis, staying in the Acacia house. It had a comfortable sitting room with a large TV, Sky, a media player loaded with films for children and adults, and strong wifi. The kitchen was fully equipped, including a dishwasher and washing machine. The new beds were comfortable, the kids’ rooms had fullsize wooden cots, and Molton Brown products in the bathroom added a luxurious touch. There was also a covered private terrace overlooking the river valley, with a six seater table, plus a large brick barbecue on the other side of the house. They’ve thought of lots of useful things for families: stair gates, a toilet seat, potty, baby bath, bed side rails and toys. The resort’s rustic apartments and houses had all been recently renovated with modern conveniences. We didn’t use the outdoor pool in October, but made good use of the indoor one. It had a sauna, steam room, outdoor hot tub and spa facilities, and pool toys and goggles were available. The shop and bar near our house were open around the clock, so we could help ourselves. Christophe put out fresh bread and croissants every morning for breakfast and lunch. A herb garden beside the sun deck added lovely scents to the relaxing setting.

We travelled around the region a lot, so didn’t get to use all the facilities or try the restaurant, which must be excellent. Still, there was loads to enjoy: the pool, jacuzzi and mini golf, and we loved feeding the animals even as adults. The view was breathtaking, and the people running the place were lovely. Breakfast delivered to the house was great too. Such a little hidden treasure. Thanks!

A really relaxing home away from home, with hospitality that felt five star. James & Olivia were great and always ready to help.
