The reception staff were all polite and thoughtful, but the room and housekeeping made the stay fall apart. We were there for 8 nights with a baby, and the room was never cleaned, even though we asked several times. The cleaning team didn’t do it, and the bed was only made once. I had to ask for the diapers to be removed after they’d sat for days and the room smelled bad. I also asked for the bed to be made, but it was never done properly. The baby cot had adult sheets and a blanket, which seemed like a joke. Since cleaning is part of what we pay for, this was a really bad experience. The floor was dirty and never vacuumed. I can’t say how bad it made us feel.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is conveniently located just two quick train stops from the airport. But I’m giving it 1 star because the mattresses in my room were absolutely disgusting. The staff promptly moved me to another room when I asked, but I don’t think a hotel should still be using mattresses in that condition.
My flight to Strasbourg was canceled on July 3, 2025, because of a strike by aviation workers in France. I only found out 3.5 hours before departure, and I’d already paid for my hotel booking. I called the hotel to explain, and they told me to contact the general hotline. I did, but they transferred me back to the hotel. The hotel then asked me to email details about the canceled flight, which I did immediately after the call, hoping to move my booking to another hotel in the chain since I’d bought a different flight. About an hour later, I called to ask if anything could be done with the paid reservation. The employee said no, it was impossible. I know the hotel wasn’t responsible for the flight cancellation, but neither was I. Even if changing to another hotel in the chain or getting a refund really wasn’t possible, I expected clearer communication. Why ask me for a screenshot of the canceled flight? And why not call me back after I emailed it, when they already knew nothing could be done? It left me wondering whether they weren’t motivated to help or simply weren’t very professional. I was especially disappointed because I’m a loyalty program member and made the reservation through it. I’ll give 2 stars instead of 1 for the appearance of a willingness to help, but honestly, I don’t feel like booking with this chain again.
I was shocked by this hotel. There was a strong paint smell in our room, no shampoo or soap, and no room number sign. I spent 20 minutes trying to find it in the hallway. There were also lots of strange insects in the room, and I took a video. If I hadn’t been exhausted when I arrived at 23:00, I wouldn’t have stayed. The room isn’t worth 120€, it’s worth 70€, as shown on the door.
The air conditioning didn’t work in the replacement room, and when I went back to complain, the receptionist again said, “Sorry, we have no solution.” On July 8, 2025, I was shocked by my experience at Ibis Strasbourg. Before arriving, I had an OTB confirmation and expected check-in to go smoothly. We’d booked a room for two with two single beds, but when I walked in, someone was already there. It was incredibly awkward and unacceptable, so I left right away and told reception. The receptionist seemed overwhelmed and was slow. Instead of giving me a proper solution, she was simply told, “Sorry, we don’t have a solution, maybe you can go to another hotel.” I insisted they sort it out because I was exhausted after a long journey. Eventually I got another room, but it was in terrible condition, more like a storage room than a hotel room. This is far below an acceptable standard for any hotel, especially one with the Ibis name. The management was poor, there was no accountability, and they showed no respect for guests’ comfort or bookings. Avoid this hotel.
