The food was what really impressed us, both for dinner and breakfast, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed because my wife wanted to visit the Basilica, despite a previous bad experience. The hotel still looked in need of renovation when we arrived, and although the new manager said he was there to make improvements, our room still felt tired. That's why it gets four stars from me. I think the new manager will improve the rest of the hotel in time. It's on our list to visit again, and hopefully next time it'll earn five stars.

The WiFi worked in reception, but in my room it wouldn't connect on any of my devices apart from one, and that connection failed after 15 minutes. Staff couldn't help. For any techies reading, DHCP ran out of IPs to lease. The hotel itself was very nice, with helpful staff, most of whom spoke good English. The buffet breakfast had limited hot choices, and the food was only lukewarm. The continental selection looked varied and nice, but I didn't try it on this visit.

The toilet didn't have a lock, and the two-person room had a queen-sized bed but only one blanket. We booked two rooms together, but they ended up on different floors. Noise carries easily, and you can hear conversations in the hallway.

The house red wine is quite good, and the food is also quite good with a varied selection. It's a quaint hotel, though nice inside. Sound can carry quite far through the open design, but it didn't disturb my sleep.

The room was lovely, and the hotel is in a nice, quiet area on the outskirts of town. I wasn't sure we were dressed smartly enough for what the hotel and other guests seemed to expect. If we visit Lisieux again, I think we'll try the IBIS.
