It feels dated, and there’s a heavy musty smell. The owner was hard to reach and not friendly. Being told we couldn’t collect the keys after 6 pm on a holiday Saturday because he wanted to spend time with friends was unacceptable. They also charged us for a service we hadn’t asked for. I’d avoid this place.
Birdsong all day made this a peaceful, relaxing spot, and we were welcomed warmly. The jams were delicious, but breakfast could use more variety. There wasn’t anything savory for people who prefer that. 🤔
The shower had no water pressure, and the house smelled awful throughout. The gîte was old-fashioned and very dirty, with dusty surfaces, cobwebs, and bins that hadn’t been emptied. Breakfast was especially bad: expired jam from 2018 and chocolate that had been out of date since April 2023, no butter, croissants, or rolls, and homemade bread that looked completely unappetizing. When I asked for milk, the owner told me to smell it because he didn’t know when it had been opened. The coffee was really bad, and I was only given one cup. There seemed to be no scruples about any of this. Avoid this gîte.
The bedding was comfortable, and the owner was welcoming and down-to-earth. It’s a very quiet, relaxing setting, particularly in early autumn, though the grounds could use some upkeep. I found breakfast a little disappointing.
