Hotel Au Terminus

The location is superb, and the pizza's are good. We slept well on the firm, comfortable mattresses, and the shower was great. Service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Breakfast included freshly pressed orange juice, good apple juice, and freshly ground coffee. The common area had AC, while our room had a portable fan. For what you pay, the value is excellent. The building could use a paint job and some repairs, which probably aren’t cheap.

The owner was incredibly kind when our campervan broke down and left us stranded nearby. Once we explained what had happened, he did everything he could to help and make us comfortable during a really stressful time. We’ll always be grateful for that. We stayed in two rooms over a couple of nights. Both were clean, spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. Breakfast was delicious, especially the fresh pastries, and we appreciated being able to order dinner to our room. Hotel Terminus is lovely, and we’d happily stay again if we’re ever in the area.

The reception team made us feel so welcome. The ladies were lovely and even played games with my toddler. Both rooms had comfortable mattresses, so if that’s all you need, the standard room may be enough to save some money. But there’s a huge difference between it and the newly renovated rooms. I spent the first two nights of my four-night trip in a standard room, then upgraded for the last two. You can tell which rooms are new from the photos and descriptions. I’d suggest getting rid of the fragrance machine that sprays periodically. We’re allergic to artificial scents, and it was too strong. We removed the battery to stop it. The rooms smelled clean already, so it didn’t seem necessary to cover anything up.

For the price, I think you could find somewhere better. The rooms are tiny, including the en-suite toilet and shower. I found hairs in the bed, though the rest of the room was clean. The kettle was dirty, so I didn’t risk using it. The old toilet seat wouldn’t stay up, and there was no space to sit comfortably. The hallway was very cold, and I couldn’t see any smoke detectors that looked like they were working. In the morning it was really noisy, and I could hear everyone moving around.
