Hotel Christina Lourdes

The hotel is clean and well located near the town centre. The rooms are on the small side, and the interior and bathrooms look a bit old, though everything works. On a clear day the views toward the mountains are fantastic. There’s mini golf on the roof and giant chess on the terrace. The gym is there too, but all its machines were out of service. A decent place to sleep, but not much beyond that.

The views and location are beautiful, the food was good, and the staff were nice. I’d recommend staying here if you’re going abroad on holiday.

The one good part was breakfast and the restaurant staff, who were kind and spoke languages besides French. The rest of our short weekend stay was a bad experience. There are other places in the city for the same price, and I wish we’d chosen one of them. The room AC was loud and inconvenient. The room had no amenities apart from soap, and there was no restaurant. At the front desk, staff didn’t speak English or Spanish. One of the girls kept speaking to us in poor Portuguese. We put a do not disturb sign on the door, but housekeeping came in twice anyway. The first time they knocked and woke us while we were sleeping. The second time they entered while we were having breakfast, with our dog alone in the room. At check-in, we’d been told we could leave her alone briefly, such as during breakfast. She doesn’t bark, and breakfast was the only time we were away. The staff response below barely speaks Spanish, was rude, and didn’t address the entries despite the sign. They’re also telling lies. Afterward, we checked that nothing was missing. This makes me question their intentions. There are many other hotels, and I recommend staying elsewhere.

The food was the only reason I gave two stars. We travelled as a group with meals already arranged, and they were always good. The hotel didn’t look like it did on the website. There was no air conditioning, and I had to beg for a fan. The coffee pot came with no cups or drinks. Bathroom doors didn’t shut properly, leaving gaps on both sides, and there was no top sheet. I doubt the coverlet gets washed between guests. The internet was down for two or three days and spotty for another one or two. I kept seeing four different kinds of bugs in the room, and nobody was available to help with luggage despite the stairs.
