Hotel Duchesse Anne

The location is convenient for both the TGV station and the Cathedral, but street and junction activity sometimes disturbed my sleep early in the morning. The rooms could be larger for better ventilation, and the pillows were very uncomfortable. Pillows should be for individual use. Cleanliness was OK, and the very simple breakfast was enough for a busy traveler. The room looked like a huge space in the advert, but in reality it was the opposite. The initial advert also made the hotel look large, and the photo confused us. Someone from reception eventually came down to confirm the address. Travelers should be aware they may not find a big building like the advert suggests.

The hosts are really kind, and the place has its own atmosphere, especially if your room looks onto the interior courtyard. Costs are low, but the room and bathroom are very small and below standard. There’s a TV, fast Wi-Fi, and a towel, shampoo and soap for each guest. Breakfast costs extra. The electrical sockets are awkwardly placed, too high and far from the table or shelf.

I paid €170 for three nights, but the hotel was nothing like the advert when I arrived. My double room was small and had several health and safety problems, so I left the key on the bed and checked into another hotel. I didn’t stay there. Three days later, I spotted an unauthorized €100 charge on my credit card. When I called to ask about it, they said it was because I hadn’t handed in the key. I explained that I’d left it on the bed and hadn’t stayed. Even though I could have asked for a refund and didn’t, the €100 charge was outrageous. The manager disagreed with me. My advice is to stay away.

The reception staff were amazing and very helpful, and the rooms were comfortable and pleasant. The location was great, though wheelchair access would be difficult. They made my Lourdes experience amazing. Ave maria!
