Lourmarin has more than its share of charm. The village is beautiful, with great cafes, some very affordable eats, and friendly shopkeepers. Every French village has something to it, but this one stands out. Its market has even taken the top spot for us over L'Isle sur la Sorgue. We've been to quite a few markets, and this one is sprawling and varied without feeling crowded. There's plenty of room even with lots of people. If you're driving around Provence and staying in Lourmarin, stay home on Friday! There is free public parking nearby, though finding a spot can be a little challenging if you arrive on Saturday, as we did. Friday is market day, so late afternoon would be a good time to arrive on either day. The house itself is beautiful, old, and rustic, with thick walls and rooms going in all directions. It was very comfortable, with charming places to sit around the courtyard. Françoise is a delightful host who makes the place relaxed and homely, and she has lots of useful information. Her young cat Lily watches over the courtyard and is entertaining and loveable.

Each room is different and spacious, and the beds are comfortable. The staff are friendly, well organized, and speak English. La Cordière is at one end of the village. Check with the staff about loading and unloading the car, since there are time restrictions. Prices are fair, and the website has the details. Contact them by phone or email, and they reply to emails quickly.

We had a blast in this apartment with a soul. It's clean and spacious, with a kitchen, and gives you a sense of how people lived in the old days. Parking is nearby and animals are welcome. There's no AC, but that wasn't a big problem. The owner is super friendly and has lots of information.

A central spot and a very French experience. With its little nooks and crannies, small stairs, and separate spaces, it works well for a couple or a group of adults. There's a courtyard for eating outside, and board games for a quiet afternoon.

We stayed at La Cordiere for almost a week five years ago and absolutely loved it. A truly French Chambres-d'hote, and we loved Lourmarin too!
