Camping Le Rey

We had a roomy, heavily shaded pitch for our 8.5m motorhome, under some lovely trees. We stayed five nights at €33.60 a night with electricity included. The site has several kinds of outdoor accommodation, all in pretty surroundings. The birdsong was the main thing we heard. We were fairly close to the road, but it wasn't too busy, and it was nice not to hear dogs barking. With very few lights at night, the stars were fantastic. Bring a torch for trips to the loo, though, so you don't step on snails or slugs. The unisex toilet and shower block was clean, with plenty of hot water, toilet paper and hand soap. It could do with an update. There's a water and waste service point, but we had to use a bucket for the grey water because there was no ground drain. A waste pipe is there, but it wouldn't have worked for our low profile motorhome. We didn't use the pool, though it looked clean and inviting. We drove up to Col d’Aubisque, which was incredibly beautiful and an absolute must if you're in the area. We'd recommend staying here.

We paid €20.20 with Acsi. The site is very well looked after, and the setting is peaceful and relaxing, with just a little road noise. The receptionist was lovely and helpful. There's a nice pool, plus a snack bar and small shop at reception. The unisex toilets were clean and had plenty of hot water. Thanks, Camping Le Rey.

The food at the "Snack Bar" was a real treat. They cook it in the cabin, and you can eat under cover beside the bar or take it back to your pitch. The pool wasn't open when I visited. I found a great spot for my tent, flat and soft enough to get the pegs in. The welcome was warm, and they spoke fluent English too. What a terrific little find. I'd definitely recommend it!

We stumbled across this campsite, and the quiet in early October suited us perfectly. The owner was friendly and helpful. As a treat, we stayed in a cabin instead of camping. It was just right, clean, with a hot shower and a comfortable bed. We'll definitely be back.
