La Chaumiere

The suite worked really well for us and our baby, who was under three months old. We brought our own travel cot, and there was enough space to set up her baby lounger safely beside us. We chose not to let her use the pool or spa since they’re quite small, even though those amenities were the main reason we booked. The owners made us feel very welcome and were easy to chat with. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the coffee was excellent, especially if you’re a connoisseur. We were delighted with our stay and will be back soon. The setting is gorgeous, and the rooms, facilities, and service were all impeccable. We had a wonderful weekend and felt almost at home thanks to the hosts, who welcomed us with open arms. Thank you, we’d happily come back.

The scenery is beautiful, and everything was very clean and relaxing. Philippe welcomed us so warmly. Breakfast was really good too, and we’ll definitely return. Go with your eyes closed.

After looking into that truly pathetic review from ED V, I have a good idea who it may have been. I’m the owner, and we never had a guest by that name, unless they’re hiding behind initials. You can make up your own mind. Honestly, have the courage to say who you are, or just own your mediocrity. The next day, after some research, I found that I was hosting two members of an association. I’ll keep its name private, but I can share their contact details privately with hosts who want to avoid this sort of unpleasantness. They bargained over the price and asked for an evening meal made with fresh local ingredients, while also seeking a substantial discount, which we gave. As soon as they arrived, they insisted on free pool access and were unhappy about waiting a few minutes while we cleaned the relaxation area. They settled into the largest room, the suite, then asked to move because of an unpleasant smell. It was only a faint trace of white vinegar used to clean the spa, so we moved them to another room. For €130, two people had one night, two breakfasts prepared fresh each day using bread from the village bakery, where we go every morning around 7:00 AM, and two dinners. Each dinner included an aperitif, a homemade starter with organic vegetables and eggs from our hens, a main course with local meat and fresh organic vegetables, homemade dessert, and drinks, including a bottle of good wine. The meal was supposedly so mediocre that not a crumb was left. They also had unlimited pool access. The response was a pretty rude, almost contemptuous attitude. Shame there’s no direct way to answer this sort of comment, such are the joys of the internet. Thankfully, this is very rare. Thanks to all our other guests for their encouragement and for the wonderful encounters that keep making this work a pleasure.
