Hôtel Ardiden

The staff were lovely and always willing to help, and the room was clean. Still, I couldn't sleep because my room was near some kind of pump that kept humming on and off. The place is very old, the rooms are small and poorly insulated, and the bed had only one long, flat pillow and two thin sheets. After that sleepless night, I wouldn't come back. I was bothered by the environmental message asking guests not to have towels cleaned, since the menu was mostly meat and cheese. That felt environmentally friendly only when convenient. The photo is of the vegan dessert. I can't be mad about it, since I can't expect more from a French hotel, but I do find it funny.

We'll book again for next summer so we can explore more of the beautiful valley. This was a one-night stop on our cycling trip, and the owner-run hotel was pleasant. Our room was clean and airy, with electric shutters. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, and there was secure bicycle storage.

I like the old-school, retro feel of this place. We stopped for one night on a hiking trip, and the room had two balconies. The bathroom was great, there was warm water, and the bed was comfortable. The bar had cold beer, and dinner was solid on our half-board stay. Breakfast was really good too. I've had much worse at pricier hotels in France. Baguettes, croissants, chocolatines, all really good.

The bike storage was secure for our bikes and the others, though that dungeon-like basement was dark for doing repairs. The internet was spotty when we were there in September 2019, hopefully it's better now. My friend and I stayed during our self-supported ride across the Pyrenees, taking the pension option with dinner and breakfast. Both meals were wonderful, and the rooms were very nice. We'd definitely stay again.
