Les Suites de l'Île Barbe

Benedicte, the concierge and owner, kept checking that we were having a good stay, gave us a city map, and shared great recommendations. The apartments were immaculate, the suites spacious, and the river views were lovely. We booked two suites for nine people, and everyone fit comfortably. We only stayed two nights and wished we could have stayed longer in the suites and in Lyon. We’ll definitely book again and would recommend it to other Lyon visitors. The location felt very safe on a private island in an old abbey, with a cute playground nearby. It’s a little farther from the city center and old town, but the bus and metro are easy to use. Stops are a 5-10 minute walk away, as are a boulangerie, fromagerie, and pharmacie.

After a long day walking around beautiful Lyon, I was glad to have a comfortable suite to come back to and rest in. The next morning, feeling refreshed, my friends and I enjoyed some lovely treats from the nearby patisserie in the “Jardin”. Quelle chance to find this kind of luxury when you’re a tired traveller. We only had one night here and wished we could've stayed longer. Even arriving very late, we were greeted so warmly. The renovated rooms are thoroughly modern and comfortable, though the place itself has an old-fashioned look. I'm about to ask the owner what brand the pillows are because they were that comfortable. There were two very sweet bunnies in the garden, and the bakery across the river was delicious. Thanks, we hope to visit again.

The house sits on a lovely green island with a real fairytale feel, and the apartment is spacious, bright, clean, and modern. We were welcomed warmly and even got to check in much earlier than expected. Bénédicte also shared helpful tips for the city and arranged a transfer for us. Our only regret is having just one day in Lyon. We hope to come back for longer.
