Maison Sule B&B

We first stumbled on Maison Sule while planning a cycling trip to Provence in 2017, and loved it enough to return in 2018. We’re already thinking about another visit in 2019. Good friends, food and wine, beautiful cycling roads and scenery, what more could you want? Maison Sule is in Malaucene, a beautiful village, with the historic home just 50 meters from the start of the climb up Mt. Ventoux. Restaurants, banks, groceries and cycling shops are all within easy walking distance. The house is run by a generous couple who are perfectly bilingual in French and English, and bring real passion to this cycling house. It’s a turn key setup that can be tailored to what you need. They can arrange airport pickup from Marseille, bike rentals and secure storage for bikes and gear. Rob can also guide you on cycling routes of your choice. In forty years of serious cycling and travel, I’ve never ridden with anyone so capable, courteous, fit and humble. He truly loves cycling. Maryka is a wonderful hostess. She prepares lovely breakfasts with fresh baked goods and homemade jams, takes care over the guest rooms, and makes you feel at home. She can also arrange restaurant visits, local markets, museums or wine tours, and knows the area well enough to help make your stay enjoyable.

After spending two months at Maison Sule, I can say it was beyond wonderful. The house and grounds in Malaucene are beautiful, and the grand old home balances modern amenities with its historic character. I felt very comfortable there, and the welcome was genuinely friendly and relaxed. I couldn’t have asked for more.

The big garden and swimming pool are a lovely bonus at this little paradise in the center of Malaucène. The building was once a police station and has been restored with care for its original character. You can still spot traces of its former use here and there.

The hosts are friendly, and the place is biker-friendly too. They even fixed my bike. The rooms are well equipped, and breakfast is generous.
