Hôtel de la Poste

The staff were very friendly, and reception and service were pleasant. But the room felt far too expensive for what it offered, and it was outdated. The bathroom and toilet were tiny and impractical, with very few toiletries. Their doors wouldn’t latch, had no locks, and kept opening by themselves. We could also hear the neighbors talking and noise from other rooms.

We had a great family weekend at Hôtel le Lac. The staff were professional and very helpful, and the service was excellent. Many thanks.

The friendly staff and food at the Fromage restaurant were the one bright spot. The lake view was nice, too, though this is Lake Saint Point, not the French Riviera. Still, I’d avoid this hotel. It’s very expensive for what you get: €92 without breakfast, which costs another €17 for a fairly ordinary buffet in a large room. That breakfast room is at another establishment about 100 meters from the Hôtel de la Poste. I found out the same owner runs all three hotels and restaurants and is physically present there. More competition, perhaps from Airbnb, might push them to lower prices and renovate the rooms. The soundproofing is poor. My neighbors were just having a normal conversation, and one was snoring, but I couldn’t sleep. Room No. 111 has a sloping bathroom ceiling, with the sink tucked at the far end. If you’re over 1.80m (5'11\"), you’re likely to hit your head on the exposed beams. I had to bend over to wash. The shower is over the bathtub, with no curtain or screen, so the floor gets flooded. The shower and bath mixer is also reversed: the blue dot marks hot water on the right. I thought the water heater was broken until I tried switching it. The room doesn’t look newly renovated, so this issue must have been reported before. In short, poor value and a sleepless night.

The bed was good and the bathroom small, while the room could use better soundproofing. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, but having to leave the hotel to get it nearby was a shame. Be aware that reception for the Hôtel de la Poste is at the Hôtel du Lac. The reception staff were very professional.
