Mimozas Resort Cannes

The pool was especially lovely, and the resort has excellent facilities and friendly staff. Things are looking a bit tired, and it could use half a dozen gardeners, but it was still a pleasant, clean, friendly place to stay.

There are some good points: friendly staff, good value, a nice pool area, well-kept outdoor grounds with plants and a lake, and rooms and breakfast that were both okay. The main drawback is the location of the nearest grocery store, 2 km away. Since this is an apartment hotel, guests are expected to buy their own food, toilet paper, detergent, and so on. That's a problem when it's 35 C outside. There's a small shop at the hotel, but the prices are ridiculously high. Breakfast is okay too, though the selection is quite limited. I'd recommend having a car, and there's good parking at the hotel.

The room smelled bad because of the lake, and the bed was really short. The resort was terrible and unbelievably outdated. We only stayed one night and chose it because it had a swimming pool, but when we asked at reception in the morning, they told us it wouldn't open until 3pm, even though checkout was at 12pm. That was really annoying. When we checked out, we asked for a lower rate because the facilities we'd paid for weren't available. The manager and the staff member who'd given us the 3pm opening time argued about it, then established that the pool was in fact open and the first information was wrong. There was no apology and no discount.

The rooms are all apartments with kitchens, so a couple can make breakfast, lunch, or dinner there. It's very quiet at night, and each room has its own Wi-Fi router, air conditioning, and clothes horse for drying clothes. We had a really nice stay, and would come back. The pool is lovely; they were adding more loungers while we were there, so there were plenty spare by our last day. The bar/restaurant by the pool is very reasonably priced. Everyone we spoke to was helpful, and staff wear name badges with flags showing which languages they speak. We didn't have a car, but they recommended nearby buses to Cannes and mandeliiu. It's a good base for seeing mandeliu, with a 20-minute walk along the beach past the castle. Cannes is 30 minutes by bus. There's breakfast in the lobby if you don't want to shop for groceries, and it was excellent. There's also a spa on site and a golf course nearby, though we didn't do either on this trip. The only trouble we had was the flight here and the July heat.
