I’ve been a Marc Veyrat fan since 1986, making the trip every year. Looking at the dishes is a pleasure, and then come all those flavors I never expect. Every meal feels like its own wonderful journey. It’s worth the cost and every kilometer to get there.

The quality, taste and presentation are perfect. Marc Veyrat has deserved four stars for decades, in my view, and is far above the others. The Michelin guide got it badly wrong by upsetting him with only two. Keep going, and don't give a f.CK about that stupidity. The local Savoyard character comes through in everything, from the ingredients to the accents, and the international staff are both attentive and professional. They made us feel at home in a way you can only dream of. Luca the maître d’ and Christopher the 21st century farmer are part of a family that lets Marc focus on his gift as a true artist. In 48 hours, La Maison des Bois and Marc Veyrat showed us why they're institutions for exceptional food and hospitality. From the moment we entered La Maison, we were treated like guests, not customers.
