Camping de Marcilly sur Vienne

I’ve been making the trip between Dipper and obidos Portugal four times a year for the last six years, and I wish I’d found this place sooner. It’s so relaxing, right by a beautiful stretch of river, and the site is well kept and thoughtfully laid out. Tony is lovely, and everyone was friendly and helpful. It cost me €18 with electricity for me and my two little dogs. WiFi and dogs are free too. Can’t praise it enough, 100% worth a visit. Thanks!

It was wonderfully quiet once evening came, and being the only ones on site suited us. We arrived out of season, so the trampoline wasn’t set up, which was a shame. The ping pong and badminton seemed available, but we didn’t have rackets. The owners were lovely and lent the kids a football. The place is right beside a beautiful river and was crazy cheap. With nothing much around, coffee and things on site in high season would be a great idea. We’ll definitely come back.

We hired canoes and the owner explained everything, then drove us to the launch point so we could paddle back. It was a lovely experience and I’d recommend it. The campsite has plenty of shade, with hedgerows between pitches, and there’s a small beach where you can swim in the river.

There are big shady pitches for tents, caravans and campers, and the toilets and showers were clean. We got a lovely welcome and were offered food and a drink, which was much appreciated on our first night. We booked kayaks for the next morning and had a great time. We enjoyed our stay.
