Château de La Combe

The family running this B&B made us feel very welcome, and breakfast was a real treat, especially the pancakes. The chateau has a wonderfully authentic feel while still being luxurious, and it's set in a beautiful part of France. We had a great stay.

That dinner on the terrace overlooking the valley was a real highlight. We had foie gras with local rose jelly and a lovely wine pairing, then duck with apple cooked so carefully every bite was delicious, followed by homemade strawberry cake. The fresh ingredients, local wines, seasonal produce, and generous portions got plenty of praise from our guests. Before dinner there was a champagne toast with fresh homemade bread and the best sun-dried tomato spread I've ever had. The family running Chateau de la Combe were warm and attentive, and their attention to detail showed throughout the meal. We came with family for an overnight celebration of a big family occasion, and the whole experience felt magical. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and the Chateau itself was exquisite. I especially liked the mix of historic features with comfortable modern touches, including clean, nicely decorated bathrooms, good beds, and lovely decor. They also understood what a group ranging in age from about 7 to 80 needed. Their children were part of the welcoming team, helped us set up the celebration decorations, and played with our kids, so everyone enjoyed the evening and overnight stay. Our family will remember it for a lifetime. Thank you to Chateau de la Combe!

Vincent and Thyra made us feel at home, and the dinners they cook every other night are delicious and well worth trying. Our room was clean and comfortable, and our dog Penny was welcomed too and had a lovely holiday. The view from the room made me feel right away that we'd found the place we needed. Our week at Castle Combe was a perfect pause from our busy lives. Vincent and Thyra should be proud of their B&B. If you want a peaceful place with nature sounds and family life around you, Castle Combe is a great fit.

Such a good place, with really nice people running it and very good food. It's in a lovely spot by the forest. You can relax in peace near the swimming pool, and they have some yoga classes too. Just right for a peaceful holiday.
