Aparthotel Adagio Access Marseille Saint-Charles

Having guest laundry on site was really useful, and getting here from the train station was easy. Still, I wouldn’t choose this place again. The neighborhood wasn’t great, and I wish I’d looked into it more beforehand. We passed the Novotel during our trip, and I regretted not booking there. I was also surprised this was part of the Accor group.

I was a little worried about station noise and the neighborhood, but neither spoiled the stay. For a quieter room, ask for one facing the back courtyard. The location worked perfectly for trips out of the city, with bus and train stations nearby and easy access to metro lines. I also liked the eco-friendly choices: recycling, no daily housekeeping to save water and chemicals, and windows that open for natural cooling.

The room was the weak point. It was clean, but gloomy and poorly put together: the apartment door wouldn’t shut properly, the toilet flush panel fell off overnight, the shower pressure was low, and the curtains let in too much light. With the price not especially low for that quality, I’d call the stay just okay. I did feel secure, though, thanks to keycard entry for the building, lifts, and stairwells. The staff were warm and welcoming, even leaving a note in my room, and breakfast was pretty good in a bright, cheerful room. It’s very handy for the train station, but there’s a nearby area that felt a bit dodgy and unsafe. You can avoid it by going through the station. The downside is hearing announcements from around 5 a.m., which woke me up.

The bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, and the price was good. It’s also just a couple of minutes from the airport bus. The receptionist gave us a lovely welcome and suggestions for things to see and do. We stayed two nights in mid-September, though the room looked dated and could use fresh paint and a general refresh. A couple of things were broken, which we mentioned at checkout, but nothing essential. Having to take the rubbish out when leaving felt odd. With a little care, the place could be better.
